India captain Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli were spotted in tears after the Men in Blue suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.🏏🏆

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, senior batter Virat Kohli and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj among others were spotted in tears after India’s crushing six-wicket defeat against Australia in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup on Sunday, November 19. Australia rode on a brilliant knock of 137 runs from opener Travis Head to chase down the target of 241 runs comfortably with seven overs to spare and lift a record-extending sixth title by beating India in their own backyard.

Indian pacers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah bowled fiery spells with the new ball to get India off to a strong start during Australia’s 241-run chase. Shami drew the first blood by dismissing David Warner cheaply on just 7 runs off 3 balls before Bumrah dismissed Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith in quick succession to leave the Aussies reeling on 47/3.

However, the spinners failed to capitalise on the good start from the pacers as Head combined with Marnus Labuschgane to pull Australia back into the contest. The duo shared a 192-run stand for the 4th wicket to take the game away from India and help India get over the line with ease. Following their defeat, a number of Indian players were seen getting emotional and trying to hide their tears.

Kohli was spotted trying to hide his emotions and his tears, putting a cap on his face while walking off the field while Rohit was seen with moist eyes while shaking hands with the players after the final. Meanwhile, Siraj was also spotted in tears on the pitch and was seen getting consoled by his teammate Jasprit Bumrah.🏏🏆
