After a demanding day, even a few quiet minutes of focused breathing and mindfulness may help the mind shift away from stress and return attention to the present moment.
Spiritual wellness expert Kishori Sud has shared a five-minute grounding ritual designed to help people slow down, release emotional tension and create a calmer atmosphere before resting.

1. Stand Barefoot and Breathe Slowly
Begin by standing barefoot on the floor or ground. Take seven slow, deep breaths while noticing how your body feels.
The goal is to bring attention away from racing thoughts and towards your breathing, physical sensations and immediate surroundings.
2. Light a Candle or Incense
Lighting a candle or incense can act as a personal signal that the stressful part of the day is ending.
Soft light or a familiar fragrance may help create a peaceful setting, although candles and incense should always be used safely and with adequate ventilation.
3. Use a Grounding Object
The ritual recommends holding Black Tourmaline or Smoky Quartz while imagining stress leaving the body with each exhale.
A crystal can be treated as a symbolic object that helps maintain focus. Its role should not be presented as a medically proven treatment for stress or anxiety.
4. Visualise Roots Connecting You to the Earth
Close your eyes and imagine roots extending from your body into the earth.
This visualisation is intended to create feelings of stability, support and connection while redirecting attention away from anxious thoughts.
5. Repeat a Calming Affirmation
Slowly repeat:
“I release what I cannot control. I am grounded, safe and at peace.”
Repeating the affirmation can provide a simple point of concentration while breathing slowly and intentionally.
6. Add Calming Background Audio
The ritual suggests softly playing 174 Hz or 396 Hz Solfeggio frequencies in the background.
Such audio may be used for ambience when personally relaxing, but claims that particular frequencies have special healing effects are not established medical facts.
Does Grounding Help With Stress?
Scientific evidence suggests that mindfulness and meditation practices may help some people manage stress, anxiety and sleep difficulties. However, research quality varies, and these techniques should not be treated as replacements for professional mental-health care when symptoms are severe, persistent or disruptive.
The five-minute ritual is intended for general relaxation and mindfulness, not as a medical treatment.
