Rakesh Roshan has opened up about one of the most difficult phases of his life — watching his daughter Sunaina Roshan go through multiple serious health battles.
In a heartfelt conversation with Sunaina, the filmmaker revealed that although he often felt broken inside, he deliberately stayed strong in front of her so she would not lose courage.
He Hid His Tears
Rakesh said there were many moments when he had tears in his eyes, but whenever he met Sunaina, he put on a smile and tried to give her confidence.
He said he would pray silently and avoid showing fear or sadness because he wanted his daughter to feel stronger during treatment.
Sunaina’s Long Health Journey
Sunaina has previously spoken about surviving cervical lymphoma and later reversing grade 3 fatty liver disease.
Over the years, she has also used social media to talk about nutrition, wellness, self-growth and rebuilding her health through sustainable habits.
Daughter Did The Same For Him
The conversation became even more emotional when Sunaina revealed that she had behaved in exactly the same way when Rakesh himself battled cancer.
She said she would remain cheerful around her father but cry privately in her room.
At times, she would even stand in front of a mirror and make herself smile before meeting him so that he would not see how scared she was.
Strength Passed Through The Family
Sunaina told her father that much of her resilience came from watching him face difficult situations.
Rakesh said positivity during a serious illness can give both patients and families confidence, even when those around them are privately struggling.
For Sunaina, the conversation became a tribute to parents who hide their own fears to help their children stay strong.
The Roshan Family
Rakesh Roshan is married to Pinkie Roshan and is the father of actor Hrithik Roshan and Sunaina.
