“A 400-year-old handcrafted legacy from Andhra Pradesh — made by rural artisans, not machines.”
“Every piece carries the hands, culture, and story of a rural artisan.”There is an insect called Kerria lacca, the Indian Lac Bug.It lives in Indian forests. It feeds on tree sap. It secretes a natural golden resin from its body, coats the branch it sits on, and then moves on.What it leaves behind has been collected by artisans in Andhra Pradesh for over 400 years. That resin pressed against hand-turned wood on a lathe, melted by the heat of friction into the smoothest natural coat you have ever seen, is what gives the Etikoppaka Rajasthan Lady her finish. Not a factory. Not a synthetic chemical. Not a machine. One insect. One village. Four centuries of knowing exactly what to do.

- Supports rural women artisans
The Craft:
Etikoppaka is a small village on the banks of the Varaha river in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh. For 400 years its artisans have practiced a craft called Tharini, turned wood lacquer work, passed from parent to child, generation after generation without interruption.
The wood comes from the Ankudu tree. Wrightia tinctoria, a soft ivory-wood that grows in abundance in the local forests. Each piece is hand-turned on a lathe. The lac resin is pressed against the spinning wood. The heat of friction melts it into a seamless gloss. Organic dyes drawn from bark, seeds, roots and leaves are layered in by hand.
No two pieces are identical. Every single one carries the mark of the hand that made it.
In 2017 the Government of India awarded this craft its own Geographical Indication tag, the GI tag. The same recognition given to Darjeeling tea. The same category as Kanjeevaram silk. An official declaration that this craft belongs to one place on earth and nowhere else.
The Product:
This is the Etikoppaka Rajasthan Lady, a 20cm showpiece of a Rajasthani woman in traditional attire, sculpted and finished by a village artisan in the Etikoppaka tradition.
She is hand-turned. Hand-coated. Hand-painted. Every detail applied by a person who has spent years learning how.
She is not restocked with one click. Each piece is made one at a time. When these 2 are gone, the next batch depends on the artisan, the wood, the lac insect, and time. There is no shortcut.
The Reason to Buy Now:
Only 2 pieces remain in stock.
₹950 — reduced from ₹1,499.
This is the price of one dinner out. One month of streaming. Or 400 years of Indian heritage sitting on your shelf, certified by the Government of India, made by an artisan whose family has done nothing else for generations.
People who buy this don't regret it.
People who wait until later, it's gone.
