Vijay’s Farewell Film Slows Down But Crosses ₹255 Crore Worldwide

Vijay’s much-awaited political action drama Jana Nayagan witnessed a major weekday slowdown at the Indian box office on its seventh day.
The film earned an estimated ₹6.10 crore net across all languages on Wednesday, registering a decline of nearly 24 percent from Tuesday’s ₹8 crore collection.
First-Week Total Nears ₹150 Crore
With its Day 7 earnings, Jana Nayagan completed its opening week with approximately ₹149.50 crore net in India.
Its India gross collection reached around ₹174.63 crore, while the worldwide total crossed ₹255 crore by the end of the first week. These figures are industry estimates reported through box-office tracker Sacnilk.
Tamil Version Drives Collections
The Tamil version continued to contribute the biggest share of the film’s earnings, supported by Vijay’s massive fan base and strong regional appeal.
Collections in the Hindi and other dubbed versions were comparatively lower, making Tamil Nadu the film’s most important theatrical market.
Strong Opening Followed by Weekday Decline
Jana Nayagan began its theatrical run with strong fan-driven collections and benefited from the excitement surrounding what has been promoted as Vijay’s final film before his full-time political transition.
However, after the opening weekend, its earnings began declining as the normal weekday slowdown set in. The film had collected ₹10.65 crore on Monday and ₹8 crore on Tuesday before dropping to ₹6.10 crore on Wednesday.
