T-Series Films has announced The Tatas, a premium multi-season drama series that will trace the journey of one of India’s most influential business families across four generations.
The series will be based on Girish Kuber’s book The Tatas: How a Family Built a Business and a Nation and is currently in the script development stage. It is expected to stream on MX Player. (ThePrint)
Four Eras of the Tata Legacy
The series will explore how the Tata family built a business empire that also shaped modern India.
The first chapter, “The Founder,” will focus on Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and his vision behind major national institutions, including the steel plant in Jamshedpur, the Taj Hotel and the foundation for the Indian Institute of Science. (ThePrint)
From Steel to Airlines, Motors and TCS
The second chapter, “The Consolidators,” will follow Sir Dorabji Tata, Sir Ratan Tata and Lady Meherbai Tata.
The third chapter, “The Modernizer,” will focus on JRD Tata, including his role in Tata Airlines, which later became Air India, along with the growth of Tata Motors and TCS. (ThePrint)
Ratan Tata’s Global Chapter
The final chapter, “The Globalist,” will explore Ratan Naval Tata’s leadership and how the Tata Group evolved into a global conglomerate.
Producer Bhushan Kumar said the Tata family helped build “the very idea of modern India,” and that the series will celebrate the values and vision that shaped generations. (ThePrint)
The announcement comes after the success of Made in India: A Titan Story, which starred Jim Sarbh as Xerxes Desai and Naseeruddin Shah as JRD Tata. (ThePrint)
