Stay Away From Lobbyists: PM Modi’s Message to Rajya Sabha MPs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met 36 Rajya Sabha MPs over breakfast during Parliament’s Monsoon Session and advised them to remain grounded, maintain a strong connection with the public and avoid lobbyists or power brokers who could misuse their positions.
According to lawmakers who attended the interaction, the Prime Minister cautioned MPs against people who approach them as friends or well-wishers but may be pursuing vested interests.

PM Modi reportedly reminded the MPs that thousands of people aspire to represent the country in Parliament and urged them to recognise the importance and responsibility of their position.
He advised them not to lose touch with their roots and compared the influence of lobbyists and power brokers to becoming trapped in a spider’s web.
Learn Parliamentary Procedures
The Prime Minister reportedly encouraged newer MPs to learn from experienced parliamentarians and become more familiar with the functioning of Parliament.
He also asked them to visit the parliamentary library, observe the artworks inside the complex and understand parliamentary rules and procedures. Modi has previously expressed concern that only a limited number of MPs regularly use the library.
Responsible Use of Social Media
Technology and social media were also discussed during the meeting.
The MPs were reportedly presented with a SWOT analysis of their social media accounts. Modi asked them to use technology to communicate with citizens and engage young people while remaining careful about its possible misuse.
He also advised lawmakers to maintain decorum while commenting publicly or interacting with the media.
Stay Active and Take Parliament Seriously
PM Modi reportedly urged the MPs not to treat parliamentary sessions casually. He encouraged them to remain aware of their surroundings, stay physically active and walk whenever possible—even for short distances.
When asked how he manages several responsibilities simultaneously, Modi reportedly told the MPs that he focuses on living in the present moment.
Breakfast Meetings During Parliament Sessions
The Prime Minister regularly meets groups of lawmakers while Parliament is in session. The latest breakfast interaction included both younger and senior Rajya Sabha members from different political backgrounds.
