Full Story

Yo fam, gather around for a heartfelt tribute to a true people’s champion, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy—an orator, activist, and the working-class voice who made every single rally, struggle, and Parliament session count.🇮🇳✨

Born on 25 March 1942 in Kondravpally village, Mahabubnagar, he grew up watching the struggle of everyday people—thanks to his father, freedom fighter S. Venkatrami Reddy. Early in his life, Reddy got bitten by the activism bug—starting as a 15-year-old demanding blackboards, chalk, and books in Kurnool schools. That fire never died.🔥 #StudentStruggle #EducationRights

From there, he joined AISF in 1960 and quickly climbed up: state-level roles, then All-India president of AISF by 1970, and later a deep leadership role in AIYF and CPI.

Later, he stood guard for workers and farmers—getting elected as MP from Nalgonda in 1998 (12th Lok Sabha) and again in 2004 (14th Lok Sabha). He served as chair of the parliamentary committee on labour, pushing for real rights for unorganised workers, healthcare, and curb on corruption. Respect to that grit!✊ #LabourRights #CorruptionFreeIndia

In 2012, Reddy became CPI General Secretary, following Bardhan, and led the party till mid-2019. He stayed dedicated to grassroots struggles, never losing his down-to-earth simplicity—even when steering national strategy.

On 22 August 2025, he breathed his last at 83, at a private hospital in Hyderabad—still fighting health issues with the same courage he showed in politics. His death hit Telangana’s youth and working class hard—grown-ups, comrades, and students alike.🙏

His family—including wife Dr. B.V. Vijayalakshmi and sons Nikhil and Kapil—decided to honour his caring soul: his body is being donated to Gandhi Medical College, and his eyes to LV Prasad Eye Hospital—an ultimate act of service even after death.💖

Telangana’s Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, CPI leaders, and many others paid heartfelt tributes—calling Reddy a “son of Telangana soil” and “a champion of the marginalized.” Their sorrow echoed across party lines.
