One Day Remo, Next Day Anniyan’: Anupama Opens Up About Toxic Ex
Actor Anupama Parameswaran has opened up about a past relationship she described as narcissistic and controlling, revealing that it affected everything from the clothes she wore to the films she promoted.

Speaking on Dhanya Varma’s YouTube channel, Anupama said she dated the unnamed person for around two years and compared his changing behaviour to Vikram’s iconic dual-personality character from Anniyan.
“One Day Remo, Next Day Anniyan”
Anupama said the relationship could swing between extreme affection and harsh behaviour.
To explain the experience, she compared her former partner to Anniyan, saying one day he could behave like the charming Remo and make her feel incredibly lucky, while the next day his behaviour could completely change.
She also described a cycle in which the person would later return apologising, pleading and promising to change, leaving her constantly unsure about how he might react.
Relationship Became Controlling Slowly
According to Anupama, the control did not begin suddenly.
She said it developed “slow and silent” after the relationship had already become serious and both families were involved.
By that stage, she said, she had mentally imagined spending her life with the person, making the gradual increase in control harder to recognise.
Why She Didn’t Promote Dragon
Anupama revealed that the relationship also affected her professional life.
She specifically questioned why she had not promoted Dragon, despite calling it one of the most successful films of her career, and said she had to let go of several professional opportunities during the relationship.
Control Over Clothes And Instagram
The actor also said her ex began influencing what she wore.
She recalled moving from jeans and tops to more conservative clothing because she was praised for appearing “controlled and classy.”
Eventually, Anupama said she was sending pictures of her outfits for approval before going out and seeking permission before posting on Instagram.
Her Social Media Posts Had Already Sparked Speculation
Anupama had triggered breakup speculation in July when she returned to Instagram after several months and posted captions referring to freedom from approvals, permissions and fear.
She has not publicly identified the ex-boyfriend she discussed in the interview. Hindustan Times notes that while she had been rumoured to be dating Dhruv Vikram, she did not confirm or deny that relationship.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Anupama’s account highlights how controlling behaviour in relationships can develop gradually and extend into personal choices, work and social media.
Her comments also draw attention to patterns commonly associated with emotional manipulation, including alternating between intense affection and harsh treatment.
Most importantly, she has kept the identity of the former partner unnamed, so the allegations should be understood as her account of the relationship rather than attributed to any specific person without confirmation.
