No Liquor Sales on Bonalu: Hyderabad Police Orders One-Day Closure
Liquor outlets, including toddy shops, wine shops and bars attached to restaurants, will remain closed across several parts of Hyderabad on August 9 due to the Bonalu festival.
Police authorities have imposed the restrictions to maintain public peace, safety and tranquillity during the celebrations.
Cyberabad Announces 12-Hour Closure
In Cyberabad commissionerate limits, Police Commissioner M. Ramesh ordered the closure of liquor establishments on Sunday from:
🕙 10 AM to 10 PM
The order applies to areas under the following police station limits:
Kukatpally
Allapur
Raidurgam
Jeedimetla
Medchal
Chandanagar
Bars in Hotels and Clubs Exempted
The restriction applies to regular liquor outlets and restaurant-attached bars.
However, bars located inside star hotels and registered clubs have been exempted from the closure order.
Police Step Ahead of Bonalu Celebrations
The move is part of precautionary measures taken by police departments during major festivals to prevent disturbances and ensure smooth conduct of public events.
Bonalu, one of Telangana’s biggest traditional festivals, sees large gatherings, processions and community celebrations across Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
