Legal Help for Protesters: CJP Website Gets ₹1 Crore Backing!

The Cockroach Janta Party is set to launch a dedicated website connecting protesters facing legal action with lawyers willing to provide assistance across India.
Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal announced that he would contribute ₹1 crore towards the initiative’s legal aid fund. He also appealed to lawyers and others across the country to contribute.
Website to Track Cases Against Protesters
The proposed platform will document incidents involving students and protesters, including where they occurred, who was affected and what legal or police action was taken.
Lawyers willing to support protesters will reportedly be able to register their names, locations and the kind of legal assistance they can provide. The platform is intended to connect affected protesters with suitable lawyers in their respective regions.
Kapil Sibal Announces ₹1 Crore Support
Kapil Sibal said the fund would be used to assist peaceful protesters in cases where laws were allegedly misused or false cases were registered against them.
He said lawyers associated with the initiative would support affected protesters across the country.
Claims of Arrests After Protests
The announcement comes amid allegations that students and volunteers were detained or subjected to legal action in several states following recent protests.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav alleged that students had been picked up by Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with the Prayagraj protest and demanded their immediate release. The Congress also offered legal assistance to protesters who had received notices, been detained or called for questioning.
CJP Warns of Renewed Protests
CJP representatives alleged that assurances against police action had been violated and demanded the withdrawal of FIRs and the release of detained protesters.
The organisation warned that it could resume protests if legal action against students and volunteers continued.
