India Condemns Attack On Ship Near Oman, 3 Indians Still Missing

India has strongly condemned the attack on a commercial ship near the Oman coast as concerns grow over the safety of Indian sailors working in global waters.

The vessel, identified as MV Settebello, reportedly came under attack near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz region.

According to reports, three Indian crew members are still missing after the incident, and search operations are currently underway.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said attacks on civilian and commercial shipping must stop immediately, stressing that maritime routes are critical for global trade and energy supply.

The incident comes at a time of rising tensions in the Middle East, where attacks on ships and maritime infrastructure have increased in recent months.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most sensitive shipping routes, carrying a major share of global oil transport.

Indian authorities are closely monitoring the situation while coordinating with international agencies involved in rescue and search efforts.

The attack has once again raised fears about how global geopolitical conflicts directly affect ordinary workers, including thousands of Indian sailors employed across international shipping networks.

Why This Matters

India has one of the world’s largest populations of seafarers working on international cargo ships.

For many families, incidents like this are not distant geopolitical headlines — they are deeply personal stories involving livelihoods, safety, and survival.
