In an Instagram video, Sana said she lived with fear, secrecy and shame around eating, and for a long time believed that something was fundamentally wrong with her. She explained that growing up without awareness or language around eating disorders made it difficult to recognise what she was experiencing. (Hindustan Times)

Sana Says She Struggled in Silence

Sana recalled feeling the need to hide while eating and worrying that others might judge her for overeating. Even after learning about bulimia, she said accepting that the condition applied to her was extremely difficult.

She added that eating disorders were rarely discussed when she was younger, leaving her unable to identify the problem or seek appropriate support at an earlier stage. (Hindustan Times)

Book Helped Her Understand the Condition

Sana credited the book The Bulimia Help Method with helping her understand what she was going through and supporting her recovery journey.

She said that learning the name of the condition was a turning point because it gave meaning to years of silent suffering. She has now stated that she is fully recovered and feels more comfortable in her body and life. (Hindustan Times)

What Is Bulimia?

Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder involving repeated episodes of binge eating followed by attempts to compensate through behaviours such as self-induced vomiting, fasting or excessive exercise.

People affected by bulimia may appear to have a typical body weight, which can make the condition difficult for family members and others to recognise. (Hindustan Times)

Sana Shares Message of Hope

By speaking publicly, Sana said she wanted others facing unnamed or misunderstood struggles to know that they are not alone and that recovery is possible.

Her disclosure has also brought renewed attention to the importance of awareness, open conversations and professional support for people experiencing eating disorders. (Hindustan Times)
