The Hyderabad City Police have uncovered an interstate ganja-trafficking syndicate that allegedly used Speed Post parcels disguised as medicine consignments to deliver narcotics across the country.

Police arrested the alleged kingpin, Satyam Misra, a native of Jharkhand. The network is accused of supplying ganja to customers in 21 cities and towns through a highly organised postal-delivery operation.

Syndicate Operated From Jharkhand

According to Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar, Satyam allegedly ran the operation along with his brother Shubham Misra, associate Rahul Jha and two other accomplices.

Police said Satyam and Shubham handled the procurement, packing and dispatch of ganja, while Rahul managed Speed Post bookings and delivery logistics.

The allegations are based on the ongoing police investigation and are yet to be established in court.

Orders Taken Through WhatsApp and Social Media

The gang allegedly received customer orders through WhatsApp and other social-media platforms.

Payments were collected using multiple UPI IDs and bank accounts, helping the group distribute the transactions and conceal the flow of money.

Up to 100 Parcels Sent Every Day

Police said the syndicate allegedly dispatched between 80 and 100 parcels daily.

Each parcel reportedly contained between 50 and 250 grams of ganja, priced between approximately ₹1,500 and ₹8,000, depending on the quantity ordered.

The parcels were falsely declared as medicine consignments to avoid suspicion during postal processing.

Network Allegedly Earned ₹1 Lakh Daily

Investigators estimate that the operation generated close to ₹1 lakh per day.

This would amount to approximately ₹30–35 lakh every month, with a suspected annual turnover of between ₹4 crore and ₹5 crore.

Parcel Interception Exposed the Racket

The network came under investigation after officials from the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) intercepted a ganja parcel addressed to Hyderabad.

The parcel had reportedly been dispatched through the Isri Bazar Post Office in Jharkhand.

Following the interception, investigators traced the consignment and expanded the probe into the alleged interstate network.

Two Hyderabad Recipients Arrested

Police also arrested two alleged recipients in Hyderabad, identified as Sushant Vyas and Laddu.

Around 2 kg of ganja was reportedly recovered from them. Separate cases were registered at the Gudimalkapur and S.R. Nagar police stations.

Code Words Used for Ganja Orders

The gang allegedly used code words to discuss different quantities and varieties of ganja.

Police said expressions such as:

  • “Mango”

  • “Stick”

  • “Flower”

were used while placing and processing orders.

Money Allegedly Invested in Gold and Luxury Vehicles

Investigators found that payments were routed through several accounts, including one allegedly belonging to Satyam Misra’s mother.

The proceeds were reportedly used to purchase gold ornaments and luxury vehicles.

Police are continuing to examine the financial trail, postal records, digital communications and the identities of customers and accomplices across different states.
