TL;DR: Thailandâs youngest PM, #PaetongtarnâŻShinawatra, has been suspended by the top court after a shocking phone call leaked out, where she called ex-Cambodian PM HunâŻSen âuncleâ and talked badly about a Thai army boss. This drama sparked street protests, economic panic, and made her coalition collapse. Now, her future as PM is hanging by a thread as a caretaker PM takes over!

Thailand is seeing a massive political tamasha đĽ again! This time, itâs all about Paetongtarn âUngâŻIngâ Shinawatra đ§âthe youngest ever Prime Minister who got suspended after a super controversial phone call got leaked đąđŁ.
The Constitutional Court ruled 7-2 to suspend her from PM duty đł because 36 angry senators complained she broke ethics. She has 15 days to explain herself or get permanently kicked out đŤŁ.
đ What was in that phone call?
So basically, on June 15, UngâŻIng called Cambodiaâs ex-strongman HunâŻSen for a friendly chat. But instead of a boring hello, she:
đ Referred to HunâŻSen as âUncleâ đ´đ Promised âwhatever you want, Iâll take care of itâ đłđ Mocked Thai army commander General Boonsin, saying he âjust wants to look coolâ instead of solving the border tension đśď¸
HunâŻSen got annoyed and publicly shared the recording đŁâtotally exposing her!
đĽ Public outrage
The minute this leaked, Bangkok went wild đľâđŤ. Nearly 10,000 protesters hit the streets waving placards calling her a âtraitor PMâ 𪧠and chanting âUngâŻIng, get out!â
People felt she sold out Thailandâs pride đšđ to Cambodia for no reason. The anger was so strong that the Bhumjaithai Party, which held 69 seats, quit her coalition âď¸âleaving her government shaky.
đ Economic chaos
Investors also freaked out đ¤. The Thai stock market crashed more than 4%, wiping out crores worth of value đ¸. Business leaders are scared that this drama could drag on and hurt tourism and trade badly.
In just 10 months as PM, her popularity crashed from 31% to a sad 9.2% đŤĽ.
đ Whoâs the caretaker now?
While UngâŻIng is fighting to save her seat, Deputy PM Suriya Juangroongruangkit has been named caretaker PM đ. Paetongtarn has been moved to just a Culture Minister role temporarilyâbut the court is still deciding if she can stay in politics at all.
đ§ Shinawatra family saga
This is not the first time a Shinawatra got thrown out đŽâđ¨.
â In 2006, her dad Thaksin was removed by a military coup đâ In 2014, her aunt Yingluck was toppled by a court
Now in 2025, UngâŻIng is the next target in this endless game of musical chairs đś.
âď¸ MediaFx View: From the peopleâs side
Honestly yaar, this feels like the same old story đâwhenever a PM tries to bring some fresh ideas, the powerful elite pull the plug đ¤Ż. Whether you like Paetongtarn or not, working folks deserve a govt that talks peace đď¸, not just power games.
All these court dramas are making ordinary people sufferâjobs go, prices rise, investors run. Real democracy should mean letting the people decide đłď¸, not just a few big bosses in uniform or fancy suits.
đŹ What do you think?
đ¤ Should Paetongtarn be kicked out?đ¤ Was the call really that bad?đ¤ Or is this just the old guard scared of losing control?
