Nagarjuna on Film Trends: “Cinema Can’t Be Fantastic Always”

Veteran actor Nagarjuna has opened up about the evolving trends in Tollywood and Bollywood, stating that cinema cannot always deliver “fantastic” experiences and must reflect a balance of storytelling styles.

Speaking about the current film landscape, Nagarjuna highlighted how audience preferences are changing rapidly, with content-driven films gaining prominence alongside big-budget spectacles. He noted that while grand, larger-than-life movies have their place, not every film needs to aim for that scale.

The actor emphasized that storytelling authenticity and relatability are becoming more important, especially as viewers today are exposed to diverse content through streaming platforms and global cinema.

He also pointed out that the pressure to constantly deliver massive hits can be unrealistic, adding that the industry should embrace a mix of experimental, mid-range, and commercial films to stay sustainable.

Nagarjuna’s comments reflect a broader shift in Indian cinema, where filmmakers are increasingly focusing on strong narratives rather than just star power and visual grandeur.

As the industry continues to evolve, his perspective adds to the ongoing conversation about how cinema can adapt to changing audience expectations without losing its creative essence.
