TL;DR: The Modi-led central government has announced the Monsoon Session of Parliament from July 21 to August 12, 2025, rejecting the opposition's demand for a special session to discuss Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack. Opposition leaders, including Congress and TMC, have criticized the government for avoiding accountability, coining terms like "Parliamentophobia" to describe the alleged fear of facing Parliament.

🌧️ Monsoon Session Dates Announced 🗓️

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju declared that the Monsoon Session of Parliament will commence on July 21 and conclude on August 12, 2025. This session comes after a three-month hiatus and is expected to address various legislative matters.

🧨 Opposition's Demand for Special Session Denied ❌

In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, and the subsequent Operation Sindoor, 16 opposition parties, including Congress, SP, DMK, and TMC, jointly wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging for a special session to discuss these critical issues.

However, the government dismissed this request, stating that all important matters can be discussed during the upcoming Monsoon Session.

🗣️ Opposition's Outcry: 'Parliamentophobia' Accusation 🧏

TMC MP Derek O'Brien accused the government of suffering from "Parliamentophobia," suggesting a morbid fear of facing Parliament. He criticized the early announcement of the Monsoon Session as a tactic to avoid a special session.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also questioned the unprecedented 47-day advance notice for the session, implying it was a move to sidestep immediate discussions on pressing national security concerns.1

🛡️ Operation Sindoor: A Brief Overview 🕵️

Operation Sindoor was a significant military response by India on May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, following the Pahalgam attack. The operation aimed to dismantle terror infrastructure and send a strong message against cross-border terrorism.

🧠 MediaFx Opinion: A Marxist Perspective ✊

The government's reluctance to convene a special session on matters of national security raises concerns about transparency and accountability. From a working-class viewpoint, it's imperative that elected representatives address issues impacting citizens' safety and well-being. Avoiding such discussions undermines democratic principles and the public's right to be informed about actions taken in their name.
