Farmers in Basampalli village, Chenna Kothapalli mandal, were recently given hands-on training on the Pelletized Pre-Monsoon Dry Sowing (PMDS) model.

The demonstration showcased how this innovative sowing method can help farmers achieve stable and reliable crop yields even under changing weather conditions.
Nearly 25 varieties of seeds were used in the demo, including castor, pearl millet, red gram, cowpea, and cluster beans, illustrating the flexibility of the PMDS method for different crops.
Agricultural experts emphasized that the pelletized seed approach helps with uniform germination, water conservation, and early crop establishment key factors for mitigating risks in the pre-monsoon period.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote climate-resilient farming practices, enabling small and marginal farmers to optimize productivity and reduce losses
.
Why This Matters
For Gen-Z and younger farmers entering agriculture, adopting modern, science-backed techniques like PMDS is essential for sustainable farming, higher efficiency, and climate adaptation.
