Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A. Shyam Prasad flagged off a Mobile HIV Testing Van at the District Collectorate to provide free HIV testing, counselling and awareness services across remote and underserved areas.
The mobile testing centre was launched under the guidance of the Andhra Pradesh AIDS Control Society Project Director.
The Collector said the initiative would help people who are unable to visit hospitals due to long distances, lack of transport facilities or financial constraints.
Officials were directed to deploy the mobile unit in:
Remote villages
Areas with high-risk populations
Industrial establishments where workers may require screening and counselling
Along with free HIV tests, the mobile unit will educate people about HIV prevention, early detection and the precautions required to reduce the risk of infection.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Fairoza Begum, District Leprosy and AIDS Control Officer Dr. Anupama James, and other medical personnel participated in the programme.
