Main Story:In a sensational move, police officer J. Shankariah from Kadapa district has issued a legal notice to Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu. The notice, sent through his lawyer on 18 Sept, seeks a public apology in the Assembly and ₹1.45 crore in damages. Shankariah alleges Naidu made “false and malicious” statements linking him to mishandling evidence in the 2019 murder of former minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy.

Vivekananda, uncle of YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, was brutally killed at his Pulivendula residence in March 2019, days before elections. Naidu had accused Shankariah of letting accused wipe out bloodstains at the crime scene. The cop was suspended back then, but later reinstated.

Shankariah claims his reputation has been irreparably damaged by Naidu’s public remarks. He also reminded that he had testified about being threatened by accused Avinash Reddy’s aides but later withdrew under pressure. The CBI continues to probe the high-profile murder, which has seen multiple arrests including Bhaskar Reddy, father of Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy.

The legal notice has added fresh political fire in Andhra Pradesh, where the Viveka murder case remains a hot-button issue.
