Ceiling boards fall at Kukatpally mall, one seriously injured

Visitors at a busy mall in Kukatpally faced a sudden scare on Sunday afternoon when ceiling boards collapsed inside the building.

The incident occurred at **Lake Shore Mall near the Y-Junction around 12 pm**, when parts of the ceiling reportedly fell onto visitors during peak weekend hours. Due to the heavy crowd, several people were affected, with **one person seriously injured and rushed to Amor Hospitals for treatment**.

In simple terms: a routine weekend visit turned into a safety scare for shoppers.

Mall staff quickly intervened, assisting those affected and providing immediate help to visitors who sustained minor injuries. Emergency response inside the premises helped prevent panic among the crowd.

A Kukatpally police officer confirmed the incident, stating that the situation has been brought under control and there is **no longer any safety threat at the mall**. As of now, **no formal complaints have been lodged**, and therefore a case has not been registered.

Why this matters: Hyderabad’s malls see large weekend footfalls, especially from young shoppers, families, and students. Incidents like this raise questions about maintenance and structural safety in crowded public spaces.

Subtle system angle: rapid urban expansion has increased the number of high-traffic commercial spaces, making regular safety inspections and maintenance crucial for public safety.
