Union Cabinet Pays Tribute to Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh with State Mourning šš®š³

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, passed a condolence resolution on December 27, 2024, mourning the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh šļø, who passed away on December 26, 2024, at AIIMS, Delhi, aged 92. The resolution recognized Dr. Singh as an eminent statesman šØāāļø, renowned economist š, and distinguished leader šļø, whose contributions left a lasting impact on India's national life š.

The government extended heartfelt condolences š to Dr. Singh's family and declared a seven-day state mourning š“, during which the national flag š®š³ will fly at half-mast across India and in Indian missions abroad. Dr. Singh will be accorded a state funeral ā°ļø, with a half-day holiday š for central government offices and state-run PSUs on the day of the funeral.
Dr. Singhās illustrious career included roles such as Chief Economic Adviser š, RBI Governor š¦, and Planning Commission Member Secretary š. As Finance Minister (1991ā1996), he led Indiaās economic reforms š¼, and as Prime Minister (2004ā2014), he steered the nation through remarkable progress š.
