Union Cabinet Pays Tribute to Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh with State Mourning šŸŒŸšŸ‡®šŸ‡³

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, passed a condolence resolution on December 27, 2024, mourning the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh šŸ•Šļø, who passed away on December 26, 2024, at AIIMS, Delhi, aged 92. The resolution recognized Dr. Singh as an eminent statesman šŸ‘Øā€āš–ļø, renowned economist šŸ“ˆ, and distinguished leader šŸ›ļø, whose contributions left a lasting impact on India's national life šŸŒ.



The government extended heartfelt condolences šŸ’ to Dr. Singh's family and declared a seven-day state mourning šŸ“, during which the national flag šŸ‡®šŸ‡³ will fly at half-mast across India and in Indian missions abroad. Dr. Singh will be accorded a state funeral āš°ļø, with a half-day holiday šŸ•’ for central government offices and state-run PSUs on the day of the funeral.


Dr. Singh’s illustrious career included roles such as Chief Economic Adviser šŸ“Š, RBI Governor šŸ¦, and Planning Commission Member Secretary šŸ“œ. As Finance Minister (1991–1996), he led India’s economic reforms šŸ’¼, and as Prime Minister (2004–2014), he steered the nation through remarkable progress šŸš€. His honors include the Padma Vibhushan šŸ… and other prestigious awards.
