More Impressed by Her Journey: RGV Praises Yami Gautam After National Award Win
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has praised Yami Gautam following her Best Actress win for Article 370 at the 72nd National Film Awards, saying that her journey, perseverance and willingness to take risks impressed him more than the award itself.
In a heartfelt note shared on social media, Varma reflected on the years of struggle and determination that shaped Yami’s career before she received national recognition.

RGV Celebrates Yami’s Journey
Ram Gopal Varma said that although he does not usually attach great importance to awards, recognition becomes meaningful when it reflects a person’s long-term commitment to their craft.
He noted that Article 370 was not merely another acting assignment for Yami, but a project she strongly believed in and supported with conviction.
Varma said he was particularly moved by the challenges she faced, the risks she took and her refusal to give up while building her career “brick by brick.”
‘Article 370’ Wins Three National Awards
Article 370 emerged as one of the major winners at the 72nd National Film Awards, receiving three honours.
Yami Gautam won Best Actress, while the film also received awards for Best Feature Film and Best Music. The awards were selected by an 11-member Central Jury chaired by Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj.

Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 is a political action thriller centred on events surrounding the 2019 revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special constitutional status.
Yami Gautam portrays intelligence officer Zooni Haksar, who becomes involved in operations addressing insurgency, terrorism and legal challenges in the region.
The film also stars Priyamani, Skand Thakur, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Kiran Karmarkar, Ashwini Kaul and Arun Govil.
