Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for his third electoral contest from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh. After securing resounding victories in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Modi is ready to contest again in the 2024 elections. BJP sources have revealed that Modi will file his nomination papers in Varanasi on May 13. Prior to the filing, a massive rally is planned, signaling the start of a vigorous campaign.

The anticipation within the BJP camp is palpable as they make elaborate arrangements for Modi's nomination. Modi’s visit will also include a stop at the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple. With polling in Varanasi scheduled for June 1, during the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the political atmosphere is electric.

The UP BJP unit has been busy preparing for what promises to be a landmark event. Meanwhile, from the Congress party, Ajay Rai will contest against Modi for the third consecutive time. Rai, who had previously secured only 75,000 votes in 2014 and 14% of the vote share in 2019, will face a formidable opponent in Modi, who garnered 56% and 63% of the votes in the previous elections respectively.
