Major Step for Peace: 46 Insurgents Surrender in Manipur

In a significant development towards peace and stability in Manipur, 46 cadres of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) (KCP-PWG) have surrendered before the state authorities and laid down their arms.
The surrender ceremony was held at the Mantripukhri Garrison of Assam Rifles (South) in Imphal East, where the cadres handed over weapons and expressed their willingness to return to mainstream society.
Insurgents Join Mainstream
The surrendered cadres belonged to the proscribed KCP-PWG, an armed insurgent outfit operating in Manipur.
Officials described the move as an important step in ongoing efforts to reduce insurgency and promote peace in the region. The surrender also reflects continued initiatives aimed at encouraging militants to abandon violence and participate in rehabilitation and reintegration programmes.

During the surrender event, the cadres deposited sophisticated weapons as part of the process.
