The story of Japan is said to be about a small-time thief, who rises to become a notorious robber, one who swindles away with Rs 200 crores of jewels that belong to a politician. When he is on the lookout for law enforcement, Japan has to fight his way out. Will he succeed in doing so? Japan is reportedly based on a real-life notorious thief who was involved in several robberies in Tamil Nadu.Raju Murugan on what made Karthi sign the film.

Speaking to a leading daily, Raju Murugan spoke about what made Karthi sign the film. He said "When Karthi agreed to be a part of the project, I understood the importance of considering his expectations, his potential, and his fan base. However, the character was crafted in such a way that only he could truly embody it. Upon reading the script, Karthi immediately expressed his admiration for the character. Even though he quickly came on board, our discussions about the character and its development never ceased,”.

Apart from Karthi, Japan features Anu Emmanuel playing the female lead. Jithan Ramesh, KS Ravikumar, Sunil, and Bava Chelladurai star in supporting roles in the film. The movie has GV Prakash Kumar's music, Philomin Raj's editing and Ravi Varman's cinematography.🎥 💫
