Hyderabad, the cosmopolitan city, boasts an extensive network of approximately five lakh CCTV cameras, symbolizing safety and security. 😊 However, recent incidents have unveiled a contrasting reality, leading to criticism of the CCTV system, considered Hyderabad's security ambassadors. 📷❌ Under the concept of community policing, these cameras fall under the jurisdiction of Rachakonda and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates. Officials claim that they aid in swift criminal apprehension, regardless of the crime's location. Instances exist where crimes have been solved rapidly thanks to CCTV footage. 👍🔍Nonetheless, a surge of disturbing crimes has prompted severe scrutiny. In the past 15 days, Hyderabad witnessed six sensational murders - three within the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate, three in Cyberabad, and a series of kidnappings in Rachakonda. 😢 For instance, a four-year-old girl was tragically raped and abducted in Hayat Nagar while innocently heading to a grocery store. Despite capturing the culprit on CCTV footage, law enforcement has struggled to locate him. 😔 Similarly, in Ghatkesar, a man kidnapped four-year-old Krishnaveni, caught on CCTV during her playtime. Sadly, the police could not trace the kidnapper's movements after meticulously reviewing countless camera recordings. 😞These incidents have sparked concerns about the CCTV system's effectiveness in ensuring public safety. The performance of Hyderabad's CCTV cameras faces mounting criticism and scrutiny, casting doubts on their role in securing the city. 🚨👮♂️
