Hard Rock International has terminated its licensing agreement with JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd, ending the company’s rights to operate Hard Rock Cafes and Rock Shops across India.
The decision will lead to the closure of **10 outlets across major cities**, including three locations in Bengaluru — Hard Rock Cafe, Bengaluru International Airport, and Whitefield — along with Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Hyderabad Hitech City, Kolkata, New Delhi, and Pune.
In simple terms: the iconic Hard Rock Cafe brand is exiting its current operations across India.
The cafés, known for their live music, themed interiors, and global memorabilia collections, have been popular nightlife and dining spots for years in several Indian metro cities. The end of the licensing agreement means JSM Corporation will no longer operate the brand in the country.
However, **Hard Rock Hotel Goa will continue operating normally**, as it is run by a different entity and is not connected to JSM Corporation.
Why this matters: Hard Rock Cafe has been a major pop-culture and nightlife destination in Indian metros, especially for young audiences who frequent live music venues.
Subtle system angle: global brands operating through licensing partnerships can quickly exit markets when agreements end, highlighting how franchise structures shape the hospitality industry.
