Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayati Raj & Rural Development Minister, Pawan Kalyan, has shared exciting news for NREGA workers in the state. The central government has allocated an additional 6.50 crore workdays for the state under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA) for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Details:
Already, the initially allocated 15 crore workdays were completed by the end of June. Recognizing the additional needs, the Ministry of Rural Development, led by the Secretary, approved the extra 6.50 crore workdays in a meeting held in Delhi. This decision will provide more employment opportunities for NREGA workers, benefitting approximately 54 lakh families in Andhra Pradesh.
Additionally, the central government has agreed to promptly release pending payments to NREGA workers. Pawan Kalyan expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for this support.

Pawan Kalyan also addressed an incident involving attacks on forest department officials in Palnadu district's Vijayapuri South range. He condemned the attacks that occurred during the arrest of a gang involved in illegal wildlife transport and warned that strict actions would be taken against those responsible. He has discussed the incident with the district collector and SP to gather further details.
