Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has shocked the Tollywood industry by issuing notices to two of its most iconic studios, Annapurna and Ramanaidu Studios, for massive outstanding trade license fees. Annapurna Studio was found to have paid only ₹49,000 despite a pending amount of ₹11.52 lakh, while Ramanaidu Studios paid a fraction of ₹1,900 against the ₹1.92 lakh dues. Both studios have played a pivotal role in bringing Telugu cinema to Hyderabad and continue to operate film schools that nurture emerging talent. GHMC officials from Circle 18 pointed out that while these big studios enjoy fee concessions, it raises questions about the impact on smaller businesses that pay full charges. The civic authorities have demanded that both studios clear the dues fully, and the studios now face the task of explaining these discrepancies. This development will be closely watched to see how these historic film institutions respond.
