Clashes at Jantar Mantar as CJP Protesters Attempt “Chalo Sansad” March
Tension erupted at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar during the Cockroach Janta Party’s proposed “Chalo Sansad” programme after demonstrators attempted to march towards Parliament.
A confrontation reportedly broke out between protesters and security personnel amid heightened security arrangements across central Delhi.
According to visuals from the protest site, personnel from the Railway Protection Force and Delhi Police used batons and other crowd-control measures after sections of the gathering became chaotic.
Several protesters were pushed back as security forces attempted to prevent the crowd from advancing towards the high-security Parliament area, where restrictions had already been imposed.
Authorities had reportedly not granted permission for the proposed Parliament march. Heavy police deployment, barricades, traffic controls and Metro-related restrictions were put in place around Jantar Mantar, Parliament and adjoining areas.
The incident occurred after protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar despite restrictions on proceeding beyond the designated demonstration zone. Further official details regarding detentions or injuries were not immediately available.
