YouTubers Accused Of Harassing Vendor At Medaram Jatara

A disturbing video from Medaram Jatara in Telangana has sparked outrage online.

In the viral clip, a Muslim street vendor named Shaik Shaiksha Vali from Kurnool is seen being questioned and pressured by a group of Telugu YouTubers over the food he was selling — a sweet snack known as khova bun.

The YouTubers allegedly demanded that he prove the food was safe and even asked him to eat it on camera. They also reportedly questioned his identity and asked for official documents.

Vali explained that he only sells the product and does not manufacture it himself. Despite this, the confrontation continued, drawing criticism on social media for what many described as harassment and humiliation for views.

The incident took place during the Medaram Jatara, one of the largest tribal festivals in Asia.

Following the video’s circulation, several locals, influencers and political voices extended support to the vendor. Customers from his locality publicly stated they had been eating the same snack for years without issues.

The episode has reignited debate around online “investigations,” communal sensitivity, and the ethics of content creation.

Authorities are expected to examine the matter further.

The bigger question now is —

where does journalism end,

and performative harassment begin?
