Vijay has taken a major political step after his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections with 108 seats.
Falling short of the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly, Vijay has now reportedly reached out to the Communist Party of India (CPI) seeking support to form the government.
According to CPI State secretary M. Veerapandian, the party received a formal letter from Vijay late on Tuesday night requesting backing for government formation. The CPI is currently a constituent of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), making the development politically significant.
The move has intensified political discussions across Tamil Nadu, as alliances and post-poll negotiations are expected to play a crucial role in deciding the next government.
TVK’s strong performance marks a major breakthrough for Vijay’s political debut, transforming him from a cinema icon into a serious political force. However, the final outcome now depends on whether he can secure enough support from other parties and independents.
With coalition talks gaining momentum, Tamil Nadu politics is entering a dramatic and closely watched phase.
