🏏 A major setback occurred at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Fans expressed outrage as 36,000 tickets sold out within 30 minutes, sparking widespread protests outside the venue.
Allegations of large-scale discrepancies in ticket sales surfaced, with claims that many tickets were being sold on the black market. The Hyderabad Cricket Association and the management of Sunrisers Hyderabad faced criticism for this apparent mishandling.
Members from AIYF and AISF, alongside local residents, staged significant protests at the stadium, threatening to block the match scheduled for Thursday. They demanded transparency in the ticket sales process. In response, security around the stadium was heightened.
Officials from the Hyderabad Cricket Association argued that the demand for tickets was exceptionally high, and only 36,000 were available, which led to the rapid sellout. They accused those who did not receive tickets of levying unfounded allegations against them.
