In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh, Aditya Vardhan Singh, the Deputy Director of Health Services, went for a holy dip in the Ganga River at Nanamau Ghat in Bilhaur on Sunday to offer prayers to the Sun. While his friends were taking photos from the bank, Singh moved further into the river, ignoring the warning signs. Suddenly, the river's current intensified, and even though Singh was a good swimmer, he got swept away. 🌊
Seeing him struggle, Singh's friends rushed to nearby private swimmers for help. One of the swimmers, Sunil Kashyap, agreed to rescue him but demanded ₹10,000 upfront. Despite being told that they didn't have that much cash on hand, he insisted on a UPI payment. Singh's friends began transferring the amount online. However, Kashyap refused to jump into the water until he saw the payment reflected in his account. 😤
After waiting for the payment to be completed, Kashyap finally prepared to dive in. Unfortunately, by that time, Aditya had already been swept away by the strong current. Singh's friends lamented that if the swimmer had jumped in immediately, the officer could have been saved. 🕊️
Police officials stated that Singh, who was stationed in Kanpur, had arrived at Nanamau Ghat on the banks of the Ganga River on Saturday. While bathing in the river, he slipped and was carried away by the strong current. Search operations have been launched to find his body, involving SDRF personnel, the Flood Unit, police, and private divers. Meanwhile, DCP Singh confirmed that they are also investigating the allegations against the swimmers for demanding money and will take legal action. 🚨
Singh's wife is reported to be serving as a judge in Maharashtra, making this incident all the more tragic. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for action against those who prioritized money over saving a life. 💔
