Telangana Sizzles: Temperatures Hit 47°C as Heatwave Grips the State

Telangana is experiencing a scorching start to the summer season, with temperatures climbing to nearly 47 degrees Celsius in several districts.


Dilawarpur in Nirmal recorded the highest temperature at 46.5°C, according to the Telangana Development and Planning Society, measured between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on Wednesday, May 20. Other hot spots include Dharmasagar in Hanmakonda, Choppadandi in Karimnagar, and Odela in Peddapalli, which all recorded 46.4°C.


Hyderabad remains relatively cooler at 38°C, but forecasts suggest the city could see temperatures soar to 43°C amid the ongoing heatwave.


The heatwave is expected to persist for the next five to six days, with northern and eastern districts facing 45–47°C, while other areas experience 43–45°C. Districts such as Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, and Wanaparthy are likely to witness isolated intense thunderstorms, according to local weather enthusiast T Balaji.


Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak hours, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
