TL;DR: Bollywood actor Sonu Sood is facing an arrest warrant from a Ludhiana court over an alleged ₹10 lakh fraud case. He claims he's just a witness and calls the news "highly sensationalized." The next court hearing is on February 10.

Bollywood's beloved actor and philanthropist, Sonu Sood, is now caught in a legal tangle. A court in Ludhiana, Punjab, has issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with an alleged ₹10 lakh fraud case. The warrant was issued after Sood reportedly skipped a court summons to testify in the case.
The case revolves around a Ludhiana-based lawyer, Rajesh Khanna, who alleges that he was duped into investing in a fake Rijika coin by the main accused, Mohit Shukla. Sood was summoned as a witness but failed to appear, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.
Reacting to the news, Sood took to social media, stating, "We need to clarify that the news circulating on social media platforms is highly sensationalised. To put matters straight, we were summoned as a witness by the Honourable Court in a matter pertaining to a third party to which we have no association or affiliation." He further added, "It is sad that celebs become soft targets. We will take strict action in this matter."
The court has directed the officer-in-charge of Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai to arrest Sood and produce him before the court. The next hearing is scheduled for February 10.
Sood, who gained widespread acclaim for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, finds himself in an unexpected controversy. As the legal proceedings unfold, the public awaits clarity on the matter.
