In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift in the types of movies being made. While commercial films always have a huge following, films that question societal systems and bring out social messages are gaining popularity. From Rajinikanth to Ram Charan, many stars are now focusing on such impactful stories.
Movies with a social message stay in our hearts for a long time. This is why directors like Shankar, who blend commercial elements with strong messages, have such a high demand. Koratala Siva also followed this path with movies like SrimanthuduĀ and Janatha Garage. Last year, director Venky Atluri took on the education system with SIRĀ featuring Dhanush, creating a significant impact.
Whenever filmmakers highlight the flaws in the system, the result is usually a memorable film. This is why movies like Indian, Oke Okkadu, Tagore, and LeaderĀ have left a lasting impression. Particularly, films addressing issues in the education system tend to make a strong impact. From Shankar's GentlemanĀ to Dhanush's SIR, this concept has always worked well.
Recently, many movies discussing the flaws in the education system have been successful. Films like 3 Idiots, Taare Zameen Par, and ChhichhoreĀ were big hits. The latest addition to this list is 12th FailĀ by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, which achieved great success. Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film VettaiyanĀ is also centered around education.
Directed by Gnanavel of Jai BhimĀ fame, VettaiyanĀ focuses on a police officer's fight against the flaws in the corporate education system that emerged in the 1980s. With a stellar cast including Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, and Amitabh Bachchan, it will be interesting to see how Rajinikanth works his magic with this compelling storyline.
