Petrol and Diesel Prices Hiked Again: Rs 2.61–2.71 Increase Across Major Cities

Petrol and diesel prices in India were increased by Rs 2.61–2.71 per litre on Monday, marking the fourth hike in less than two weeks. Petrol in Delhi rose to Rs 102.12 per litre from Rs 99.51, while diesel increased to Rs 95.20 from Rs 92.49. Prices in Mumbai now stand at Rs 111.21 for petrol and Rs 97.83 for diesel, with Kolkata and Chennai seeing similar jumps. The cumulative increase since May 15 has nearly reached Rs 7.5 per litre due to rising global crude prices, weaker rupee, and tightening refining margins. Consumers face higher transportation costs and inflationary pressures as state-owned fuel retailers pass on international price rises.
