TL;DR: Veteran Malayalam actor Alencier Ley Lopez recently shared his experience working alongside legends Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth. He admired their unique styles but concluded that their acting differs from his approach, leading him to state that they "cannot act" in the traditional sense.

At a recent press meet for his upcoming film Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal, veteran Malayalam actor Alencier Ley Lopez spilled some tea about his time in Tamil cinema. He took up a role in Vettaiyan just to see the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth in action. He didn't even take a rupee for it! They flew him to Mumbai, put him up in a five-star hotel, and his role? A judge, sitting for one shot, with Amitabh on one side and Rajini on the other.

Alencier was super curious about their acting styles. He remembered watching Rajini sir stop a flying helicopter with his teeth during his college days and wanted to see how he did it in real life. The shoot was just a day. Rajinikanth did his signature style—using his body language, his walk, and his aura. Then, Amitabh's character roared like a lion, leaving Alencier's character stunned.

Reflecting on the experience, Alencier realized he couldn't match their styles. He said, "I don't have Rajinikanth's flair for stylized acting, nor do I have Amitabh Bachchan's thunderous voice. All I can do is act in films by directors like Dileesh Pothan, Sharan Venugopal, and Rajeev Ravi. That's when I realized—they cannot act."

He also pointed out that Vettaiyan featured Malayalam superstars Fahadh Faasil and Manju Warrier, whose talents were largely underutilized in the film.

MediaFx Opinion: Alencier's comments highlight the diverse approaches to acting in Indian cinema. While stars like Amitabh and Rajinikanth have their unique styles, actors like Alencier focus on more nuanced performances. This diversity enriches our cinema, but it's essential to recognize and value all forms of artistic expression. In a society that often idolizes larger-than-life personas, we must also appreciate the subtlety and depth that actors like Alencier bring to the screen.
