TL;DR:Ā Starting July 1, 2025, India is seeing a major money shake-up ā Aadhaar is now compulsoryĀ for new PAN cardsĀ and Tatkal train bookings, ITR deadlinesĀ are extended to Sept 15, and big banks like HDFC, ICICI, Axis, SBIĀ are slapping extra charges on ATM and digital transactions. Railways are hiking fares, Delhi will stop giving fuel to old polluting vehicles, and RBI has extended banking hours. The aim is to tighten rules and stop fraud, but many feel common people will end up paying the price. š«¤

š§ Whatās New & Why It Matters
1. #AadhaarMandatory for New PAN Cards
From July 1, Aadhaar linking is must for getting a new PAN card. No more voter ID or birth certificate. Only Aadhaar accepted. šŖŖ Govt says this is to stop fake PAN cards and improve #TaxCompliance.
2. Easy #ITRExtension ā Some Relief for Taxpayers
For FY 2024ā25, if you donāt have an audit requirement, you can file ITR till 15 September 2025. But self-assessment tax must be paid by 31 July. š This helps salaried people who always rush last minute.
3. Tatkal #OTP & Aadhaar Verification for Train Bookings
From July 1, Tatkal tickets need Aadhaar verification. And from July 15, youāll also get an OTP on your registered mobile before booking. š No more agents booking fast for extra money.
4. Waitlist Charts Coming Early
Now, waitlist charts will be ready 8 hours before train departureĀ instead of 4. Passengers will get more time to plan. ā
5. Rail Fare Hike šø
Railways are increasing fares by ā¹0.01/km in non-AC coaches and ā¹0.02/km in AC. For a 500km journey in AC, it means ā¹10 extra per ticket. Still, it pinches daily travellers. š #RailFare
6. Banks Adding New Charges š”
HDFC Credit Card: 1% fee on rent, gaming, wallet loads above ā¹10,000, and utility bills above ā¹50,000.
ICICI ATM Fees: After 5 free ICICI ATM withdrawals per month, youāll pay ā¹23 per transaction.
Axis Bank: Same ā¹23 per ATM transaction after free limits.
IMPS Charges: Between ā¹2.50āā¹15 depending on amount.
Cash Recycler Machines: First 3 withdrawals free, then ā¹150 per withdrawal. š³
7. SBI Credit Card Benefits Reduced
SBI has removed free air-accident insurance on some cards and changed how Minimum Amount Due is calculated. More hidden costs incoming. š³
8. UPI #Chargeback Becomes Easier
If money goes by mistake, banks can now process refunds directly without waiting for NPCI approval. Faster money recovery = happier users. āØ
9. Locked GSTRā3B Returns
From July, once you file GSTRā3B returns, you cannot edit them. And you canāt file them after 3 years. š§¾ #GSTCompliance
10. Delhi Fuel Ban for Old Vehicles
Delhi is installing cameras in 520 petrol pumps. If your car is too old and polluting, you wonāt get fuel. ššæ This is to improve air quality but will hurt poor people with old vehicles.
11. RBI Extends Call Market Timings
Interbank lending hours now stretch up to 7pmĀ instead of 5pm. Banks can manage funds better but doesnāt impact common folks much. š¦
MediaFx Opinion: People-Power Perspective š§āš¾ā
From the side of the working people, these changes are like a mixed thali. Some items are good, some too spicy. Making Aadhaar mandatory and stopping agents from misusing Tatkal bookings is fair. But extra bank fees on small transactions are just squeezing common people who already struggle to save. š„²
Rail fare hikes and Delhiās fuel ban look small but hurt families who donāt have extra money to buy new vehicles or pay higher ticket costs. If the govt really wants transparency, it should also protect the poor from extra charges and provide subsidiesĀ for cleaner vehicles and digital transactions.
Policies must make life easier, not just stricter. Otherwise, only rich folks will travel comfortably and pay fees without worry, while small workers and daily earners get left behind. ā
