Recently, the Malayalam film āManjummaal Boysā has become a huge hit, especially loved for its thrilling survival story directed by Chidambaram, based on a true story. One of the highlights of the film was the iconic song "Kammmani Ee Premalekha" originally composed by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja and featuring Kamal Haasan. However, this song has now landed the producers in legal trouble.
Ilaiyaraaja has issued a notice to the producers, stating that they used his song without his permission and must pay a penalty or remove the song from the movie. This isnāt the first time Ilaiyaraaja has taken legal action; he recently filed a case regarding a track in the title teaser of Superstar Rajinikanth's movie āCoolieā.
However, the producers of āManjummaal Boysā have defended themselves, saying they legally acquired the rights to the song from the audio label that owns the āGunaā movie songs. They claim thereās no wrongdoing on their part.
This issue has again brought Ilaiyaraaja into the spotlight, showing his firm stance on protecting his musical works.
