Heartbreaking Scenes Everywhere: Kerala Flood Death Toll Reaches 344 💔

Kerala is still struggling to recover from the devastating floods, with the death toll now reaching 344. Rescuers have found more bodies under the debris, and search operations continue in Wayanad. Nearly 300 people are still missing as rescue teams, along with local residents and forest department staff, search for them in landslide-affected areas.

The area has been divided into six zones for the rescue operations, with 140 soldiers constructing a Bailey bridge in a record 31 hours to access low-lying areas affected by landslides.

Rescue efforts are complicated by heavy rains, washed-out roads and bridges, and difficult terrain, making it hard to deliver supplies by helicopter. Drone footage reveals that the entire Churalmal area is submerged. The rising water level of the Iruvazhinjii River has flooded all the areas along its banks.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi promised to build over 100 homes for the disaster victims in Wayanad. He said this disaster is unlike any other and urged the central government to provide necessary support. He expressed deep sorrow, stating that Kerala has never witnessed such a tragedy before. Rahul Gandhi, along with Priyanka Gandhi, has been touring the affected areas for the past two days, overseeing relief efforts.

This is Kerala's worst natural disaster since the massive floods in 2018 that claimed 500 lives. The current death toll stands at 344, with 281 people still missing. About 250 people have been severely injured, and over 350 homes have been destroyed. Rescuers report that continuous rain in Wayanad for the past week is hindering rescue efforts. Authorities use dog squads, special drones, and thermal scanners to locate people trapped under the debris.
