š„ TL;DR:The big plan to stop fuelling old vehicles in Delhiālike diesel cars over 10 yearsĀ and petrol ones over 15 yearsāhas been pushed back! Now, this fuel ban will start from 1 November 2025Ā in Delhi and 5 major NCR districts. For the rest of NCR, itāll kick in from 1 April 2026. Officials said they need time to fix camera tech and make sure things are fair for everyone. šā ļø

š§ Whatās Really Happening?
š«ļø Delhiās air is super polluted, thanks to lakhs of #OldVehiclesĀ š zooming around.
ā³ Authorities wanted to ban fuel supply to any End-of-Life (#EOL) vehicleĀ starting 1 July 2025, but faced too many issues.
š„ ANPR camerasĀ (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) that spot old vehicles were either not working properlyĀ or installed in the wrong places.
š¢ļø Plus, many people started doing āfuel tourismāāgoing to nearby cities like Noida to fill their tanks! š
š¤ So, after loads of complaints and tech problems, the govt decided to postponeĀ the ban:
From 1 Nov 2025, fuel ban starts in Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Sonipat.
From 1 Apr 2026, the rest of NCR joins in.
š What Counts as an EOL Vehicle?
š Diesel vehicles older than 10 years.š Petrol vehicles older than 15 years.
So, if your uncle is still driving that ancient Maruti 800, better watch out! ššØ
š«£ Why This Delay?
š Delhi tried starting this ban on 1 July. On Day 1, they seized 80 vehicles. Day 2āonly 7. Clearly, something was fishy.
š Cameras werenāt reading number plates correctly. Some vehicles were wrongly tagged as banned.
šø Fuel pump owners complained about huge lossesĀ and confusion.
š¢ CM Rekha Gupta called it a ācitizen-friendly decisionā, saying people need more time to adjust.
ā Why Should You Care?
š Air pollution in Delhi NCRĀ is among the worst in the world. Over 10 million old vehiclesĀ are adding to the smog.
ā ļø Health experts say this smog causes breathing issues, allergies, and heart problems, especially in kids.
š§ But banning fuel overnight can hurt working-class folks who canāt easily afford a new vehicle.
šļø Whatās Next?
š ļø Government plans to:ā Train pump staff to use ANPR cameras properly.ā Fix faulty cameras and software.ā Run public awareness drives.ā Help people scrap old vehicles or upgrade.
So, you have time till Nov 2025Ā to decide what to do.
š§ MediaFx PEOPLEāS PERSPECTIVE
From a peopleās point of view, this delay is actually sensible. šæ While cleaning the air is super important, the burden shouldnāt fall on middle-class and poor families who depend on their old vehicles for survival.
Itās good to see the govt taking public feedback seriouslyĀ rather than just punishing folks for something they canāt control overnight.
But letās hope they really fix the tech and donāt keep delaying forever!Ā š¤
ā What You Should Do
š” If your car or bike is old, start planning:
Save up to scrapĀ or upgrade.
Watch out for ANPR camera announcements.
Stay updated so you donāt get caught unaware.
