Bohurupi 2: A Sequel That Glitters But Feels Predictable

Bohurupi 2, the sequel to the 2024 Bangla blockbuster, delivers an entertaining but predictable experience. Directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the film follows Bikram Pramanik, the conman antihero, as he finds himself entangled in a corrupt system. The story, set around 2015, sees Bikram trying to live a peaceful life with his family, only to be pulled back into crime by Inspector-in-Charge Ayan Bannerjee. While the film retains the signature blend of melodrama, humour, and suspense, its predictability is evident. The runtime of two hours and 48 minutes feels excessive, and the climax mirrors the first film's ending. Despite this, the film's lush visuals and hummable soundtrack make it an enjoyable watch, hinting at a promising franchise in Bangla cinema.
