TL;DR:Ā In Bihar, during a big voter list checking drive, officers found loads of people from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar with possibly fake documents. The Election Commission says these names will be removed before September 30, 2025, after more checks. This sparked a huge political fight, with some parties saying itās all drama to get votes and others saying itās needed to save democracy.

š What Happened in Bihar?
š„ The Election Commission (EC)Ā started a doorātoādoor voter checking mission on June 25, 2025, called Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
šµļø During this, many Nepali, Bangladeshi, and Myanmar citizensĀ were found on the voter list using things like Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and domicile proofs, which may be fake.
š„ 77,000Ā booth officers are busy checking documents of nearly 7.8 croreĀ voters across Bihar.
š What Did the EC Say?
š The EC said these suspicious names will be deleted before September 30, 2025, but only after one more round of checking between AugustāÆ1ā30, 2025.
šļø Officials also said the final voter listĀ will be ready by the end of September, before the Bihar Assembly polls.
āļø Political Reactions
š Tejashwi Yadav from RJDĀ called all this ābakwas,ā saying itās just a trick to show EC is working. He even joked that ECās āsootraā (source) means āmootraā (urine).
š„ BJP leadersĀ got super angry, calling Tejashwi āuneducatedā and demanding he say sorry.
š£ļø AIMIM leader OwaisiĀ also asked how EC can decide someoneās citizenship just by knocking on doors.
š§āāļø Legal & Bigger Issues
āļø Some groups have gone to the Supreme Court, saying this drive will remove poor and genuine voters by mistake.
š The court allowed the survey but warned EC not to hurt real votersā rights.
š This drive is like a test-run, because similar checks will happen soon in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry.
šÆ Why Should You Care?
ā Voter Trust:Ā If foreign names are there, elections wonāt be fair. So cleaning the list is good.
ā ļø Peopleās Fear:Ā Many poor workers donāt have all papers. What if their names go by mistake?
š Political Fights:Ā Parties will use this issue to blame each other, instead of fixing real problems like jobs and education.
šµļø MediaFx Angle (Peopleās Perspective)
From peopleās point of view, cleaning the voter list is necessary. But the big officers sitting in AC rooms should not punish poor and working-class peopleĀ who donāt have all the documents. This must not become a way to scare voters or play vote-bank games. Everyone should get help to prove their citizenship properly. ā
