By 2026, the number of health conscious consumers in India may increase to 176 million. š®š³ Sales of so-called healthy snacks like biscuits, š fruit snacks, š« snack bars are going to boom. šŖš

Marketing ā advertising of so-called healthy food also increases with this growing market. š These advertisements are used to deceive consumers by hiding the genuineness of these products. šµļøāāļø Hence, shop keepers can easily sell such products to customers. šŖ
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India š½ļø regulates food and beverage items in India. The authorities are also focusing on food security. š©āāļø However, such products are marketed carelessly. šŖ Expensive products are being sold as very healthy. FSSAI had last year proposed to introduce rating to inform consumers how healthy these products are. š Companies rate such products on a scale of 1 to 5 based on the amount of salt, sugar and fat. š You will see this rating on the product packet. But there is no clarity on this proposal so far. š¤·āāļø Therefore, FSSAI needs to take some more steps. The authority should implement this rating system as soon as possible. šš
