Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu recently expressed his concerns over the prevalent trend of freebies in Indian politics during a meet-and-greet event at his residence in Delhi. Surrounded by dignitaries, journalists, and members of Telugu associations, who congratulated him on receiving the Padma Vibhushan, Naidu shared his views on the current political landscape.
Naidu, happy about his recognition with the Padma Vibhushan, stated that he has no intentions of re-entering politics, preferring to remain among the people. He highlighted a disturbing trend where politicians frequently switch parties, stressing that such actions should be made transparent and accountable through a strengthened anti-defection law.
Naidu strongly criticized the culture of offering and expecting freebies. He asserted that essential services like education and healthcare should be free, but people should question other types of free offerings. He urged the public to reject corrupt politicians and those who engage in indecent communication, emphasizing the need for all political parties to work towards strengthening democracy. Naidu called upon the citizens to exercise their voting rights diligently, ensuring they check their voter slips and vote conscientiously for the party of their choice. He encouraged vigorous participation in the voting process to uphold democratic values.
