After being released from Tihar Jail under interim bail related to the Delhi Liquor Scam case, Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal made a compelling call to the nation's 1.4 billion people to unite against authoritarian governance. Addressing a large gathering of supporters outside the prison late on Friday, Kejriwal expressed his gratitude towards the Supreme Court judges who granted him bail and mentioned how people from all corners of the country supported him during his time in custody.
"I promised I would be back soon, and here I am," Kejriwal stated emphatically. He thanked the judiciary and planned a detailed press meet for Saturday afternoon to further discuss future actions and express his gratitude to his party and supporters. Kejriwal's interim bail is effective until June 1, after which he will need to surrender unless further orders are made.
The atmosphere was charged as Kejriwal, joined by his wife Sunita and a host of AAP workers, was warmly welcomed outside the jail premises. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also extended his greetings. A family gathering at Kejriwal's residence further celebrated his temporary return.
